Food
Breakfast: bowl of store brand crisp rice with skim milk, banana, coffee with milk
At the supermarket: sampled a party cracker with "seafood spread" in the fish section. Pretty good; bit too much for me, though. Bought some nice blueberries on sale.
Lunch: Bowl of meatless tortilla soup, about 1.5 cups of honeydew melon, a sheet of club crackers, and a teeny spoonful of Nutella. (It was a very small spoonful... I have no chocolate! What can I say? I have a sweet tooth.)
Post-gym snack: smoothie made from 7 or so ice cubes, 3/4 cup skim milk, handful of blueberries and some flax seed (to make my hair shiny!)
Afternoon snack: 1 oz colby jack cheese and a mini bag of popcorn, short glass of OJ
Dinner: Black beans and instant Spanish rice (...I need to learn to cook better.)
Dessert: 1/2 cup Bluebell banana pudding ice cream... mmmmm
According to my meal tracker, I consumed 1438 calories, which is within my goal of between 1200 and 1500 per day. I had 262 grams of carbs (above my max of 236), 31 grams of fat (below my goal of between 32 and 56) and 50 grams of protein (below my goal of at least 60 grams.)
All of those goals were provided by the nutrition tracker (except the calorie goal, which is my own.) I know from yesterday (Day 1 of tracking, and my Cold Start) that I don't get quite enough protein, so I tried to up it today with the cheese and the milk in the smoothie. I'll probably make eggs tomorrow since I like to cook hot breakfast on Sundays (usually just eggs and toast, or one giaaaaant pancake.) so that will help. I try to have at least one protein-oriented meal a day, whether it's a hard boiled egg, peanut butter or beans, but sometimes it gets difficult.
Pretty happy with today. Didn't feel overly hungry, just appropriately hungry. Except now I'm getting that close-to-bedtime hunger that I usually ignore since I'll be going to sleep soon. But I'm going to a party tonight, so I need energy! I think I'll just have a snack at the party? Or maybe a mini pita and some hummus... yessss.
Workout
Strength:
Upper-- lateral raises, bicep curls, shoulder press, chest rows, anterior raises, chest flys;
Lower-- static lunges with dumbbells, squats with barbell (one set each... taking it easy.);
Core: mason twists with medicine ball, crunches with legs raised, pilates roll-up with medicine ball, regular crunches, plank on bosu, modified one-leg planks on bosu, bicycle crunches.
Cardio:
20 minutes medium-high intensity on the Arc trainer... it struck my fancy (I've never used it before) but I pressed a wrong button about 20 minutes in and resent the workout, so I just cooled down... I had been there too long, anyway.
Today I finally went to the newly renovated gym at UF, Southwest Recreation Center. It. Is. Gorgeous. I want to live there. Seriously. I love it.
I wandered around for a bit before I started my workout, admiring the new key-free lockers with their fancy keypads, exploring all the new corridors and looking in the activity rooms, and figuring out where the bathrooms are. (I counted four, but there could be some I missed...?) I hope to start my before-class-shower-at-gym thing this week. I've got a meeting early Monday morning, so it may not happen Monday, but Wednesday should do the trick.
I've never showered at the gym before, but even for work I'm pretty low-maintenance--no makeup usually, and I air-dry my hair. Just need my sunscreen/moisturizer and some Chapstick and I'm good to go. Think I can do it.
